Born on Jan. 27 1954, in Sarajevo (B&H), graduated from the School of Medicine in 1977. Since 1979, he is employed at the Department of Psychiatry, University Hospital Center Zagreb, Croatia. He passed specialistic exam in 1983, got master's degree in 1984, after the postgraduate study of clinical pharmacology, and achieved PhD degree in 1989. In 1990 he became assistant professor, in 1993 higher scientific collaborator, in 1996 extraordinary and in 2003 full professor of psychiatry. He is a subspecialist in biological and social psychiatry. Since 2000 he heads the Chair for Psychiatry, and the dean for science of the Mostar School of Medicine. From 1998 to 2007 he was the head of the Ward for Biological Psychiatry, and in 2007 he was elected the head of the Department of Psychiatry UHC. In 2010 he was elected the head of the Chair for Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. He is the editor-in-chief of the international journal “Psychiatria Danubina“, cited in several indexing publications (Index Medicus/MEDLINE, SCIE). He is the member of many professional societies, and the president of the Croatian Society for Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry. He is an invited lecturer in many international psychiatric meetings and has organized numerous congresses and symposia in the country and abroad. He is the main investigator in projects sponsored by the Republic Ministry of Science and international foundations as well as in clinical trials of psychopharmaca. He is a lecturer in graduate and postgraduate studies for students of medicine and of Medical High School in Zagreb. He published over 10 books and more than 180 scientific and professional papers, also having numerous chapters in the books of other authors. Also, he is the peer reviewer in many distinguished journals worldwide in the field of psychiatry and related disciplines. He passed the education in transactional analysis, NLP, hypnotherapy. His special interest is in clinical psychopharmacology, biological psychiatry and integrative psychiatry.
