Primaries, specialist in neuropsychiatry, subspecialis of Social psychiatry, group analyst

Son of Ibrahim and Hadžera (born as Omerbašić), was born in 1958 in Brčko, where he finished elementary school and mathematical gymnasium. He graduated medicine at the School of Medicine in Sarajevo 1982. He got his emplyment as physician at the Primary Health Care Center Brčko, than in the Neuropsychiatry Unit of General Hospital Brčko. From 1996 he is employed on the Department of Psychiatry up today, and now he is the Head of the Social Psychiatry Ward. In 1991 he completed his specialization in neuropsychiatry in Zagreb (Croatia) after residental education in Brčko, Tuzla and Zagreb. He completed postgraduate study from Forensic Psychiatry in Zagreb too. During 1997 he completed education on the Queens University – Kingston (Canada) in Familyy Medicine, and in 1998 he spent a study tour at the University of Missouri - Columbia (USA) in the field of trauma psychology. From 1998 to 1999 he was trained in supervision (University in Gothenburg). In addition, he attended a Diploma Course in Group Analysis from 2002 to 2009 (given by Institute of Group Analysis, Zagreb). He had study tour in 2005 year for training from drug addiction on the Beröendecentrum, University Hospital – Örebro (Sweeden). From 1998 to 1999 he was trained in supervision (University in Gothenburg). He received his Master’s degree in the "Acculturation problems of school children and adolescents during repatriation" from the School of Medicine University of Tuzla in 2003. Since 2006 he is assistant professor who taught Psychiatry on Educational Rehabilitation School and from 2008 Family Medicine on the School of Medicine within the undergraduate courses on University of Tuzla. He received his Ph.D. with his dissertation on "The quality of life of war veterans in Bosnia-Herzegovina with posttraumatic stress disorder"” in 2009. In the same year he was promoted for assistant professor at the School of Medicine, University of Tuzla where he taught neuropsychiatry with medical psychology. Also, he teaches Community Mental Health on the undergraduate courses at the School of Medicine Tuzla, and Addictions at the. Since 2007 he teaches undergraduate courses in Social Pathology, Community Mental Health, Addictologa, Occupational Therapy and Post-Treatment Care at the Islamic Faculty Zenica, and since 2010 a postgraduate course in Resocialization at the Department of Social pedagogy of the University Zenica. He gained a title Primarius Doctor in 1994, and he is a board-certified subspecialist in social psychiatry (MoH, 2007). His clinical and research interest include the clinical psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, addictology , and psychology of spirituality. President of Tuzla Canton Psychiatry Association (2011). Awarded with second Prizes for the best scientific paper published in 2005 and 2006 year in University Clinical Center Tuzla, and he is member of Editorial Team of Acta Medica Saliniana and of Editorial Coincil of Acta Medica Academica. He published more than 170 scientific and professional papers in the field of psychiatry and mental health care in the International Journals, and as book chapters in the national and international books. He established medical assisted treatment of heroin addicts with buprenorphine+naloxone (Suboxone) method in BH. He coordinates education in Eye Movements Reprocessing and Desensitisation (EMDR) in BH. He coordinated several international research projects. He is married and has five children.
